Neverending Field Trip

The simplest way to describe the Neverending Field Trip is as a travel blog filled with stories of my family’s adventures and the details necessary for others to follow in our footsteps.

Neverending Field Trip

But it’s not just about finding places for people to relax or have fun.

At its heart, Neverending Field Trip is all about encouraging families to travel and learn together through educational Family Field Trips, whether close to home or on the other side of the world. It is my belief that experiential learning, or learning through seeing and doing, is one of the most effective ways to teach important concepts.

Whether it’s history, culture, or natural sciences like biology and geology, nothing beats seeing the people, places, and things you’re learning about in person!

What sets Neverending Field Trip apart?

There are tons of great travel blogs out there, but not a lot of them focus on families interested in the concept of Worldschooling. Worldschooling is travel with the intent of providing educational experiences for your kids. For some families that travel might be an epic country-to-country journey across the world lasting a year or more. For others, it might be a long weekend camping trip for the purpose of stargazing and chatting a bit about astronomy. Both are equally valid, and Neverending Field Trip provides tips for both kinds!

However, I also provide some extra benefits for families interested in longer-term travel, as I also write about tips for remote workers and digital nomads, such as suggestions for travel-friendly gear or recommendations for services that I’ve found useful in my own wanderings.

Written by an actual Worldschooling Parent

My family has been traveling the world for pretty much as long as we’ve been a family. My wife and I were on a road trip when we had our son, and our daughter was born overseas, way back in 2016. That means that when I write about family travel, I’m not giving my best guess of what might work. I’m writing from my own experiences as an actual Worldschooling Parent.

While every family and every trip is different, my substantial experience traveling with my own kids informs what I write about every location.

What else does Neverending Field Trip offer?

Alongside the regular blog posts about places to see and things to do, I also offer paid resources called Field Notes and Field Guides.

My Field Notes are educational booklets with a focus on specific topics or places. For instance, the Chocolate Field Notes talks about everything chocolate, from where the cacao plant came from and where it grows today, to the process of making chocolate from scratch, to the history of Modern-day chocolate starting from its Mayan and Aztec roots!

Field Guides, on the other hand, are focused on helping parents organize a specific kind of trip for their own family, including questions, worksheets, and suggested activities to support learning before, during, and after the trip.

Both Field Notes and Field Guides are available for purchase on the site with new booklets coming out soon!

Ultimately, I want Neverending Field Trip to be a resource for any family, because I believe that educational travel provides an experience unmatched by most other learning opportunities, and because traveling as a family provides an opportunity to build happy memories that will last a lifetime.
