Spas Have About 5 Times as Many Google Reviews as the Typical Business
The typical spa or beauty service business in Diib's data has 137 Google reviews, against 25 for the typical business overall. Star ratings are about the same, so the count is where spas stand apart.
In the spa and beauty business, a 4.9-star rating doesn't set you apart because nearly everyone has one. Review volume is where the typical competitor is far ahead, so a profile with a few dozen reviews can look thin next to the spas a customer is comparing you with.
Reviews on your Google Business Profile are often the first thing a new customer reads about you. In most industries, a few dozen is normal. Spas and beauty service businesses tend to have far more.
The measure here is the total number of Google reviews on a business’s profile.
What the data shows
- More reviews. Across 69 spas and beauty service businesses with a connected Google profile, the median was 137 reviews. Across roughly 16,900 profiles in all industries, it was 25.
- A high floor. Even the bottom quarter of spas had 68 reviews or more, which would put them in the top half of businesses overall. The top quarter had 264 or more.
- Same star rating. The median rating was 4.9 stars both for spas and for businesses overall.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
These figures are aggregated from Google Business Profiles connected to Diib, with review counts as of late October 2026. The industry group is small, so treat the exact ratio as a rough guide. The data doesn’t show how long these businesses have been open, how many customers they serve, or how they ask for reviews, all of which affect review counts.
What it does show is that in this industry a strong rating is common and a big review count is normal. A spa with 30 reviews might look fine in another field, but it sits well below the typical competitor here.
