Sea And Land Trust

Our work will have an impact locally, nationally and well into the future. Our unique approach involves a range of initiatives and includes a strong emphasis on education.

Sea and Land Trust manage almost 3% (80kms) of the Irish coastline for marine litter as Clean Coasts Ballynamona.
We manage 34 acres of land for nature, and we have helped implement biodiversity plans on over 600 acres in the last 3 years

Since our foundation in 2015, we have brought more than 2,000 people cleaning beaches with us and have over 300 regular volunteers.

We are multiple award winners of numerous Ocean Hero Awards including Group of the Year and Individual of the Year. We were awarded Cork County Council’s Group of the Year 2019 and Individual of the Year of the MACE sponsored Environmental Award 2021
Our mentorship of a local secondary school has seen them crowned School of the Year in the Ocean Hero Awards (2021, 2018, 2017, 2016 & 2015) and Biodiversity School of the Year 2019. Individual of the Year in the CEF Awards in 2017

We have developed to be the largest coast care group in Ireland in terms of: Number of Volunteers, Length of coastline being managed for marine litter, and Finances
Our care of the coast is held up as the exemplar in Europe. Our work has been cited in Dáil Éireann.
Our innovative approach has inspired many groups around Ireland. We have in addition mentored and supported some of these groups.

We have delivered talks to many organisations including:
Delegates from over 85 countries of The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) – The organisation that devises and implements programmes such as the Blue Flag and EcoSchools (Green Schools).

In September 2022, we will deliver a presentation on Community Engagement to all the local authorities in Ireland at a special 2 day Biodiversity Conference in Limerick titled How Local Authorities can address the Biodiversity Crisis.
We sit on Cork County Council’s Special Policy Committee for Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Change in an advisory capacity.
