Courtenay Houk Somatic Psychotherapy

I am passionate about working with couples (all configurations) and individuals in growing a greater sense of influence in their lives. Perhaps you struggle with anxiety, forming boundaries, managing your relationship to food or intimacy, or are wanting to know yourself better; perhaps you are a couple needing support with feeling seen or heard by each other, navigating a cycle of conflict, or preparing for an upcoming transition. Much of what we practice in our lives – our thoughts, feelings and behaviors – have an origin in the body. Often, we need support with recognizing when, how and why we are doing this, before we can consciously and intentionally engage this in ourselves. This is where I come in, as your somatic therapist.

As a Third Culture clinician, I hold the perspective that bodies are not fixed states and we are constantly transitioning in ourselves, with different people and environments. I will engage you by exploring how you are generating your experience somatically and support you with forming new experiences that are potentially more satisfying and rich. I am best suited for clients who want a therapist that can both hold them accountable and hold them when life feels overwhelming.
