Hotel Google Profiles Get 5x the Views but a Lower Action Rate

The typical hotel Google Business Profile in Diib's data was viewed about 10,700 times in 90 days, roughly five times the norm, but only 8.0% of views led to a call, website click or direction request, versus 13.1%.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Hotels get far more Google visibility than most businesses, but a smaller share of it turns into a trackable action. Much of the competition happens on the map, where travelers compare pins side by side, so standing out there matters more than sheer views.

Hotels get looked at on Google constantly. Travelers pan around a map, compare dozens of properties and click through listing after listing. Diib’s data shows how much of that attention turns into action.

Google counts every time your Business Profile is shown as a view. It counts every call, website click or direction request from the profile as an action.

What the data shows

Diib looked at Google Business Profiles connected to Diib with at least 500 views between June 29 and September 26, 2026:

  • The median hotel and accommodation profile (246 profiles) was viewed about 10,700 times, roughly five times the median of about 2,050 for about 12,400 profiles in other industries.
  • Only 8.0% of hotel views led to an action, versus 13.1% elsewhere.
  • 71% of hotel views came from Google Maps, versus 25% for other businesses.
  • 23% of hotel profiles turned fewer than 1 in 20 views into an action, versus 13% of other profiles.

What this does and doesn’t tell you

This is aggregated Diib data from profiles connected to Diib. A lower action rate is partly built in: map browsing produces lots of views from people just comparing locations. Google also shows many hotels with their own booking and price options, and bookings made through those may not appear as calls, website clicks or direction requests. So this data may undercount what hotel profiles actually produce.

Even so, hotels get huge visibility on Google, and a large share of that attention ends without an action you can track. Small differences in photos, reviews and rates can decide which pin a traveler taps.
