Cosmetic Surgery Websites Rank for About 18 Times as Many Google Searches as the Typical Site
The typical cosmetic surgery website in Diib's data ranks in Google for 464 keywords, against 26 for the typical website. Those keywords also get about nine times the monthly searches.
If you run a cosmetic surgery practice, your competitors' websites likely appear for hundreds of searches, many of them high-volume. A site with a handful of pages is competing against practices that cover far more of what patients look up before booking.
Most small business websites appear in Google for a few dozen searches. Cosmetic surgery practices show up for far more, and for searches with much bigger audiences.
The measures here are the number of keywords a site ranks for in Google, and the typical monthly search volume of those keywords.
What the data shows
- More keywords. Across 72 cosmetic surgery websites, the median site ranked for 464 keywords. Across roughly 58,700 websites in all industries, it was 26.
- Bigger searches. The typical keyword a cosmetic surgery site ranked for gets about 1,300 searches a month, against about 140 for the typical site’s keywords.
- Tougher competition. Those keywords had a median difficulty of 15 out of 100, against 6 overall.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
These figures are aggregated from websites connected to Diib, using keyword data from mid to late October 2026. The industry group is small, so treat the exact ratios as a rough guide. Ranking for a keyword doesn’t mean ranking near the top, and the data doesn’t show how many patients these searches bring in.
A likely reason for the big footprint is that people research procedures in detail before booking, so practices that publish pages on each procedure, recovery and cost have more to rank. The data doesn’t prove that, but it does show the typical practice website is playing on a much bigger field than most small businesses.
