Visual Art and Design Instagram Accounts Get About 3.6 Times the Interactions of the Typical Account
The typical visual art and design business in Diib's data got 69 Instagram interactions in a month, against 19 for the typical account across all industries. The spread inside the industry is wide, though.
For a visual art or design business, Instagram is one of the few platforms where your work does most of the selling. The typical account in your industry gets several times the engagement of other businesses, so a quiet account means you're missing an audience that's easier to reach than most.
Instagram is built for pictures, so it makes sense that businesses whose product is visual would do well there. Diib’s data puts a number on how well.
The measure here is interactions: likes, comments, shares and saves on an account’s posts, added up over 30 days.
What the data shows
- Typical account. Across 57 visual art and design businesses with a connected Instagram account, the median was 69 interactions a month.
- All industries. Across 3,604 accounts, the median was 19, so the typical visual art and design account gets about 3.6 times as many.
- Wide spread. A quarter of visual art and design accounts got 3 or fewer interactions, while the top quarter got 266 or more.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
These figures are aggregated from the Instagram accounts businesses have connected to Diib, over a recent 30-day period ending in mid-October 2026. The industry group is small, so treat the exact ratio as a rough guide rather than a fixed rule. The data doesn’t show what those accounts post or how often, and it doesn’t measure whether interactions turn into customers.
What it does show is that the industry average hides two very different groups. Some art and design businesses barely register on Instagram, while others get hundreds of interactions a month from the same platform. Having visual work to show isn’t enough on its own. The accounts at the top are doing something with it.
