About Diib Start
Diib Start is a publication from diib for small business owners. We publish short, dated findings about how small business websites get found and used: on Google, on Google Maps, on social media and in AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity. Each one ends with something you can actually do about it.
Our view is simple: your website should work as hard as you do. Most advice about search is written for marketers. Ours is written for the person running the business.
Who publishes Diib Start
Diib Start is published by diib Inc., the company behind diib, a dashboard that shows small business owners how their website is doing and what to fix. Diib Start articles are written and reviewed by the diib team.
Where the data comes from
Most Diib Start articles are based on data from websites whose owners have connected them to diib. That includes sources like Google Analytics and Google Business Profile, along with third-party data on which other websites link to a site. We use that data only in aggregate:
- We never name, describe or identify an individual business, website or customer.
- We don’t publish a figure based on fewer than 20 websites. Most of our findings cover far more.
- Each article states the time period it covers, how many websites it’s based on, and what it’s compared against.
Our data reflects businesses that use diib, not every business. When an article relies on an outside source, such as an announcement from Google, we link to that source directly.
Our editorial standards
- We report what the data shows, and say what it doesn’t. Two numbers moving together doesn’t prove one causes the other. Every article includes a section on its limits.
- We don’t promise results. No one can guarantee rankings or traffic, and we won’t pretend to.
- Plain English. We explain terms like SEO (search engine optimization) and AEO (answer engine optimization) when we use them.
- Dated and updated. Every article shows when it was published. If we update one, we show the updated date.
- No paid placement. Diib Start articles are not sponsored, and no business pays to appear in them.
Corrections
If you think we got something wrong, email support@diib.com with the article’s link and what you think is incorrect. When we correct a meaningful error, we update the article and note the change at the end of it.
