Home Improvement Businesses With More Sites Linking to Them Get About 3x the Google Listing Views
In Diib's data, home improvement businesses in the top quarter for websites linking to them got a median of 913 Google Business Profile views in 30 days, versus 268 for the bottom quarter. Views climbed at every step in between.
If you run a home improvement business, the competitors who show up most on Google Maps are usually the ones other local websites link to. If few sites link to you, that's a gap you can close with a few hours of outreach, not an ad budget.
A backlink is a link to your website from another website, like a supplier, a local directory or a news story. Your Google Business Profile is your free listing on Google Search and Maps, and Google counts each time it’s shown as a view.
For home improvement businesses, those two numbers move together.
What the data shows
Diib looked at 165 home improvement businesses with both a Google Business Profile and website link data connected to Diib. We counted how many different websites link to each business, split them into four equal groups, and compared their Google listing views over the 30 days ending October 17, 2026:
- Fewest linking sites (median 39): a median of 268 listing views.
- Second group (median 104): 458 views.
- Third group (median 175): 763 views.
- Most linking sites (median 526): 913 views, about 3.4 times the bottom group.
Home improvement isn’t unusual here. In most of the industries Diib checked with 80 or more businesses, the top quarter for links also had at least twice the listing views of the bottom quarter.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
This is aggregated data from businesses connected to Diib, not every home improvement company. It shows a pattern, not cause and effect. Bigger, longer-running businesses tend to have both more links and more people searching for them, so earning links won’t add listing views on its own.
What it does suggest is that the businesses people see most on Google Maps are usually also the ones other local websites point to. Links from suppliers, directories and local press help people find you, and they also signal that your business is established in your area.
