Visitors to Business & Industrial Websites View Fewer Pages Per Visit
Visitors to the typical business and industrial website in Diib's data viewed 1.79 pages per visit over the past 90 days, compared with 1.95 for websites in other industries.
Business and industrial websites tend to show visitors less of what they sell than the average website does. When buyers see only one or two pages, they may never discover the products, capabilities or proof that would win the job.
Manufacturers, distributors, contractors and other industrial businesses often have deep product lines and complex services. Yet their website visitors tend to see less of what’s on offer.
Pages per visit is the average number of pages someone views before leaving your site. It’s a rough signal of whether visitors find a reason to keep exploring.
What the data shows
Diib looked at websites with connected Google Analytics and at least 300 visits between June 30 and September 27, 2026:
- Visitors to the median business and industrial website (2,772 sites) viewed 1.79 pages per visit. The median across about 64,000 websites in other industries was 1.95.
- Only 40% of business and industrial websites averaged two or more pages per visit, versus 47% elsewhere.
- The typical visit lasted about 1 minute 36 seconds, versus about 1 minute 49 seconds for other websites.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
This is aggregated Diib data from websites with connected analytics. Fewer pages isn’t automatically a problem. A buyer who lands on exactly the right product page and requests a quote needs only one page. But the data can’t tell those efficient visits apart from visitors who couldn’t find a path to the next step.
For businesses with a lot to sell, a gap in pages per visit usually points to navigation, not demand. Related products, application pages, spec sheets and case studies only help if visitors can find them from the page they landed on.
