Auto Repair Shops Get a Far Bigger Share of Phone Calls From Their Google Profile
For the typical auto repair shop in Diib's data, 17% of customer actions on its Google Business Profile were phone calls, compared with 3% for businesses overall.
For auto repair shops, a Google Business Profile drives phone calls far more than it does for most businesses. That means your listed hours, phone number and how quickly someone answers can matter as much as your website.
When a warning light comes on, people don’t fill out a contact form. They call.
Your Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in Google Search and Maps when someone looks up your business. From that listing, people can take three main actions: call you, visit your website, or get directions.
What the data shows
Diib looked at those three actions on Google Business Profiles connected to Diib from June 30 to September 27, 2026. It included profiles with at least 30 actions in that period.
- For the median vehicle repair and maintenance business (146 profiles), phone calls made up 17% of actions. The median across about 21,500 profiles in all industries was 3%.
- Website clicks made up 22% of actions for auto repair shops (versus 17% overall), and direction requests made up 52% (versus 75% overall).
- Only a few other industries came close, including plumbing, pest control and dental care, where calls also made up around 17% to 18% of actions.
What this does and doesn’t tell you
This is aggregated Diib data from profiles connected to Diib. It measures taps on the call button, not answered calls or booked jobs. It also can’t show whether a shop’s hours, photos or reviews influenced who called.
The pattern still makes sense. Car trouble is urgent and specific, and people want to know “can you fit me in today?” before they drive over. For auto repair shops, the Google profile works more like a phone line than a brochure.
