So, how did it start? With many years of experience in recruitment, Tony Line found that his recruitment agency website was getting good results for the job vacancies advertised on it. We then asked some of our recruitment agency friends to post their jobs on the page, and they also saw good results.
Things developed from there, and The JobsBoard became a separate website with its own domain name and contemporary style created by a long-term graphic design associate.
Although they are related, running a recruitment company and a job board are quite different. I work with a talented web development company, and between us, we have learned how job boards should be designed. I now find myself immersed in the details of SEO as I work to make the adverts on my job board stand out against some very large competitors.
The business started in the county of Kent but has grown to be a UK job advertising board. This growth has required linking with Google Places to enable job seekers to search for jobs close to them. Job seekers can search for current vacancies based on location, industry sector, job type, and salary. The job search can also be carried into a Job Alert, which will let you know when there is a new vacancy that meets your needs.
The JobsBoard champions three distinct areas.
First, Recruitment Agencies: Coming from a recruitment background, I understand how recruiters want to post jobs and what they want to see in their applications. So, The JobsBoard gives recruiters Unlimited job postings with our simple monthly package. The adverts Stand out with recruiter logos, Google Maps links, and SEO-optimized ads. We tend to work with small and medium-sized agencies and staffing companies.
I also know that if you are a small agency or start-up, the cost of advertising, although necessary, can be prohibitive. The JobsBoard is cost-effective, and we help new agencies establish themselves with a period of free advertising.
Second, small companies: If you are running a small business, recruiting staff can be a difficult task. The JobsBoard supports business owners and managers by helping them write effective job adverts. Job adverts should include details of the work and any experience or qualifications needed. It is also important to talk about why potential employees should want to work for you: what do you do? What are the company values? What scope is there for job progressions?
There is also much discussion about flexible working, which you should cover in your job advert. Finally, it is important to include the salary or rate of pay.
Our third area is the charity and not-for-profit sector. Typically, these organisations have limited resources, so the JobsBoard provides free advertising for employed and volunteer positions. This support saves charities money, and they benefit from opening their vacancies to a wider audience. Through this, The JobsBoard becomes associated with some very worthwhile causes.
The JobsBoard has strong plans for growth, including partnering with a wider range of recruitment agencies and charities and developing links with UK Job Centres, schools, and colleges.
