Hana and Robin started the Bead Shop in January 2000. Hana was only 18 years old and found it difficult to get banks and landlords to take them seriously.

After seeking financial help from family and using their savings The Bead Shop at the End of the Universe was started. The name was ironic as the first affordable unit was Nottingham City Centre’s West End Arcade, a small shopping arcade.
2002 was the launch of our first website and e-commerce site and 24 years later, after two moves, each to larger properties, the now Bead Shop (Nottingham) Limited sits on Market Street in the heart of Nottingham city, just off the central Market Square.
We still sell beads as well as beading tools and accessories for all styles of beadwork and jewellery making. From our bricks and mortar shop we teach jewellery-making workshops, run children’s parties and run a repair and restringing service. We host a beading social group and take our bead range and equipment to bead shows around the country.
2021 we started to sell barista coffee from our cafe with a selection of cakes from local bakeries. The cafe proves to be popular for beaders and crafters who enjoy creating, and socialising whilst drinking coffee and cake.
