Strand Hardware was founded in November 1972, 50 years ago, by Mr Brian Jolly.

The shop was originally called Peel Street Hardware and was located in Peel Street in the Port Elizabeth CBD and occupied a mere 160m2 at the time. In 1995, Brian Jolly changed the name of the business to Strand Hardware. This was due to its location at the time in Strand Street, Port Elizabeth. The business grew steadily, which necessitated moving to larger premises three times, throughout the years.
What started out as a purely retail operation has now evolved into three unique divisions; these are Retail, Board Centre and Repair Centre, with an exceptional track record in Wholesale and Distribution.
The introduction of a integrated online platforms in 2006 added a new dimension to the business activities. In 2013, Brian Jolly handed over the reins to Stuart Keil, who purchased the business with the intention to expand and reignite a true customer-service- orientated experience in the Hardware Industry, while using his own IT knowledge to continue to remain at the forefront of the online e-commerce industry in Southern Africa.

1.RETAIL
Strand Hardware’s retail division has rapidly developed in product and service offerings, hosting an array of products, such as power tools and accessories, machinery – ranging from small DIY to 3-phase industrial, paint and paint products, general tools and hardware, cleaning and automotive products, electrical and plumbing, abrasives and adhesives, rainwater harvesting as well as home and garden supplies. The companies extremely knowledgeable staff set it apart from its competitors.
2.BOARD CENTRE
This division focuses on the supply, cutting and edging of Bisonboard, Sternwood and Sonea Boards and Tops for both commercial and private projects – large and small scale. Quality Cabinet-Assembly Accessories and Kitchen Hardware are available.
3.REPAIR CENTRE
Strand Hardware is the proud Service and Repair Agent for brands such as Makita, Bosch, Festool, Ingco, Toolmate, Jet, Laguna and Nova.
