Shoden Martial Arts

Shoden was founded by Sensei Jack Holdbrook who holds a Third Dan grade in Karate and First Dan grade in Jiu Jitsu. Sensei Jack trained in Karate from the age of ten and he was working as a teaching assistant in a local school. He always dreamed of being a full time Martial Arts teacher and starting his own business. He finally took the plunge six years ago and founded Shoden Martial Arts. The club has grown rapidly and now has hundreds of students. Not content to rest on his achievements Sensei Jack continues to improve his knowledge by also training in Judo and in Kyokushin Karate under different instructors. He likes to set his students the example of always being open to learning more.
People are attracted to the friendly atmosphere and inclusiveness of the club. We have students of all ages and encourage families to learn together. We also cater for students with additional needs.
The focus at Shoden is on Karate, namely the Seiki Juku style which has its roots in the Goju Ryu and Kyokushin styles as our founder trained in Japan in these disciplines.
At Shoden we are proud of bringing our students into a family of learning and on a life long journey of Karate. We look after each other and support each other both in and out of the dojo. We keep our prices low to make sure it is affordable to as many people as possible.
The benefits of learning Martial arts are many, including building confidence and increasing fitness. We have proven that it is possible to have a business model that allows affordability for our members while still driving business growth year on year. We are proud of what we have done and are excited about what we can achieve going forward.
