Lake Minnetonka is the largest Lake near Minneapolis and has many fish in it. If your looking for a meal of sunfish or crappies. Or just want to catch a trophy northern pike or walleye.
The ice fishing season starts near the end of December and goes till the beginning of March.
The fish houses are placed on the lake and ready to fish when you show up. All you will need is a fishing license and any food or beverage of preference. These fish houses are the nicest houses you will ever fish in. The Yetti houses have 2 leather couches and a heater that will have to problem keeping you warm no matter how cold it is outside. Along with ovens, microwaves to cook a meal. Also a television to watch your favorite sports team. Or have the underwater camera hooked to the television to see the fish that are swimming below the ice. This helps you catch more fish too. Just point the camera to your bait and set the hook the minute the fish bites. Because if you wait to long they will spit it out and swim away. They are also rattle reels in the houses. Put a minnow on and wait for the bell to ring. Once the bell rings and the fish starts swimming away, then you set the hook and start pulling the line in by hand. This can be lots of fun when a big pike sees the bottom of the hole and he decides he doesn’t want to come out of the water quite yet.
There are plenty of fishing poles and tackle in each house. If the bite is slow, but you see the fish on the underwater camera, then try switching to a different color jig. Sometimes this is all it takes to bring the fish topside. If you want tip ups set up outside near the house we can do that too. This is always exciting when you glance outside from the window and see the flag up. This means you have a fish on, so you run out there as fast as you can and pull it up through the hole.
If you decide you do not want to cook a meal while staying in the fish house, there are many good restaurants nearby.
Large corporate groups are welcome. We group the houses together for large events. Then you can walk back and forth to each house to see what everyone is catching. Sometimes companies will have prizes to give away for the most or largest fish caught. Or to just visit with someone that has just flown in from a warm state and has never seen ice before. This makes for great conversation. So when you decide to come fish with us no worries because we do all the work so you can enjoy your day on the ice. And if you plan to keep your catch, just bring a cooler or pail to put them in.
