I am Brian Haddock. And I am the designer and builder for Rural Modern Furniture. My Rural Modern Furniture designs are inspired by the timeworn architectural elements and primitive constructions found in and around the old houses, camps and barns of rural Maine reimagined in a unique modern style. My handcrafted wood furniture is original, practical, colorful, whimsical and functional. It is art for your home. My craft resume includes work in architectural design, house carpentry, historic preservation, architectural millwork, cabinet work and furniture making. I work in a small shop in Freeport, Maine and strive to produce original wood furniture that's more than just a copy of a copy of another maker's idea. The furniture is solid timber. No remanufactured wood materials are used. And no nails. No staples. The joinery is basic and strong. The furniture will last a good long time.
