Founded by Jan “Jany” Novotny, Snowbusters has become a destination for people seeking more than a holiday: they come for challenge, growth, and transformation. Operating under the twin banners of Snowbusters (winter) and Rockbusters (summer), the brand seamlessly bridges seasons with elite freeride skiing and world-class sport climbing.
At the core of Snowbusters is a “Community First, Coaches Second” philosophy. Rather than a distant guide-client dynamic, participants are folded into a true mountain family. The multicultural team of guides and instructors lives the lifestyle they teach, often spending over 300 days a year on snow or rock. That authenticity shows in a coaching approach that’s direct, gritty, and focused on real results.
Jany Novotny himself is a study in contrasts. Czech-born and Spain-based, he holds a Master’s degree in Social Politics and Social Work—an academic background that deeply informs his coaching. His strength lies in breaking down mental barriers as effectively as technical ones. A lifelong dirtbag at heart, Jany is perpetually balancing three worlds: charging steep lines on skis, climbing deep limestone caves, and raising his two “little Rockbusters.” Years spent living out of a van under Spanish crags helped him build the global network that now connects Snowbusters with elite athletes like Adam Ondra and Patxi Usobiaga. His mantra—“Harder, Better, More”—isn’t marketing; it’s how he operates.
Snowbusters stands out through its blend of technical coaching and radical adventure. Trips combine video analysis and skill development with serious backcountry exploration. While the Alps remain a staple, the brand is known for pioneering lesser-traveled regions like North Macedonia’s Shar Mountains, Albania’s Accursed Mountains, and Norway’s Lyngen Alps—places chosen for terrain, not crowds. Mobile basecamps, including fully equipped motorhomes, allow teams to chase conditions in real time. A close partnership with DOWN Skis also gives participants hands-on access to high-performance freeride gear in the terrain it was built for.
Offerings range from freeride and cat-ski expeditions—notably in Kosovo and Albania—to technique masterclasses, ski touring and splitboarding intros, and Steep & Deep sessions focused on high-angle terrain and the mental game of big mountains. Snowbusters’ social presence reflects the same ethos: raw footage, communal dinners in remote huts, and honest coaching moments—never polished luxury, always real mountain life.
At its core, Snowbusters is built on one belief: the mountain is the ultimate teacher. Time spent with Jany and his crew—whether skiing 2,000-meter descents in Austria or skinning through silent forests in Spain—is designed to leave participants sharper, stronger, and far more stoked than when they arrived.
