Peak Adventures

Peak Adventures offer guided days out mountaineering, were you will learn to navigate, scramble or climb. Course’s run throughout the year, in the summer we offer Hill Skills and Mountain Skills courses on behalf of Mountain Training.

Our Mountain Skills course run on either 2 day option, where we look at navigation, weather, equipment. use of GPS and what to do in an emergency. The main emphasis is navigation, learning to use your map and compass to safely plan a route. You can also choose the 2-day bolt on. On these 2 days we go on an expedition, an opportunity to camp wild in the mountains and to try our hand at navigating in the dark – why in the dark. This simulates bad weather, imagine being caught in fog or snow, navigating at night helps you appreciate the difficulties and gives you the tools to manage in the future.

The Mountain Skills Course is an accredited course, and can be used as steppingstone to becoming an outdoor professional.

Guided days out can be in The Cairngorms, either bagging Munros or taking on that climb you have always wanted to try.

In Glencoe we can take you along the Aonach Eagach Ridge or up any of the Classic Routes on The Buachaille Etive Mòr and throughout Glencoe.

From Fort William we offer guided days out on the classic ridges, Tower Ridge, Ledge Route and Castle Ridge or great opportunities to climb soe of the best routed in Scotland, all from The SMC hut.

On Skye, we offer 3-day traverses of the famous Cuillin Ridge, The Black Cuillin’s are a true alpine experience and undoubtedly the most sought-after ridge in Scotland. It also includes the Inaccessible Pinnacle. The only Munroe where you need to be able to climb to summit it. As well as guiding on the ridge, we can offer multi day excursions taking in summits of your choice.

Winter Sills courses, these we run in The Lake District on Helvellyn. On a one-day course we will teach you to use your ice axe and crampons and introduce navigating in Winter and look at Avalanche Awareness.

In Scotland, primarily in The Cairngorms we run courses running 2 to 5 days, in these we look at basic use of ice axe and crampons, how to move safely on steeper ground, what to do if it goes wrong and a lot of time navigating. A key part to enjoying Scottish Mountains, is knowing how to plan a route taking into consideration the avalanche risk. We look at interpreting the avalanche forecasts provided by The Scottish Avalanche Information Service.

And we don’t stop there, in The Lake District, we run Hill and Mountain Skills Courses, can take you scrambling on some of The Lakes best Ridges or teach you to Climb. Borrowdale and the Langdale Valley have great climbing opportunities and often close to the car, so no long walk ins with lots of kit.
