The Coachella Valley is 45 miles long, and there are nine cities that make up the Valley. Palm Springs is where most people fly into because it is an interntional airport, but it is 30 miles from Indio.
So when visitors say they are traveling to Palm Springs, we residents learned to ask them the address of their hotel, for they may be staying in Indio, 30 miles from the city of Palm Springs.
I started the Palm Springs Insider Guide over my frustration. Many visitors traveling to the area think we are only about golf and swimming pools. There are many attractions, some within walking distance of downtown Palm Springs.
For others, you need a car, for they are down Valley, as we locals call going south to the other end of Coachella Valley.
My sight is expanding with 1/2 day trips, full day, and three-day trips from Palm Springs. Now I am even adding locations further away, for I am well aware of how many snowbirds we have and locals who seek refuge from the summer temperatures.
