Whether you’re just stepping into a leadership role or have been managing for years and want things to feel more solid, this is a space where you can slow down, take stock, and grow in ways that are useful, sustainable, and true to who you are.

This work is for people who want to lead with clarity, not confusion – who care about people *and* performance, and who want to feel more confident navigating the messier, more human parts of leadership that don’t always get talked about.

There’s no shortage of advice out there on how to be a great leader – much of it focused on what you *should* be doing: the habits, the hacks, the five-step plans. But what’s often missing is space to reflect, to ask real questions, and to get support that’s tailored to *you* – not just your role, but your values, your personality, and your actual day-to-day challenges.

At Own Your Leadership, we take a practical, human approach. That means no jargon, no tick-box training, and no pretending leadership is easy. It’s not. But it *is* something you can feel more equipped for – and more grounded in – when you’ve got space to think, tools that actually work, and a coach who sees you and listens properly.

We also focus on the internal side of leadership as much as the external. Because how you lead others starts with how you lead yourself – your mindset, your boundaries, your ability to hold steady when things get tough. We help you build self-trust, emotional resilience, and clarity – so you can lead with more intention and less noise.

I’m Sharon Smith, founder of Own Your Leadership. I’m a leadership coach, mentor, and former people manager – and for years, I learned to lead the hard way.

Like a lot of people, I was promoted because I was good at my job – but I wasn’t given much in the way of support or guidance. I had to figure it out on the fly: dealing with tricky team dynamics, juggling priorities, and trying to look like I knew what I was doing (when often, I didn’t).

Eventually, I got the chance to study leadership more formally – to learn the theory and frameworks that helped me make sense of my experience. And that changed everything. I started coaching others, combining what I’d learned through trial and error with a more structured approach. It was a relief to know it ‘wasn’t just me’ – that leadership is hard because it’s complex, emotional, and deeply human. And it’s not about having all the answers – it’s about being curious, consistent, and clear about how you want to lead.

I’m now a qualified coach in Performance Coaching with NLP and registered with the NCIP. But more than that, I bring real-world experience, common sense, and a lot of compassion to my work. My clients often say they feel heard, supported, and challenged – in the right ways.

Leadership affects everything – how people feel at work, how teams function, how much energy you’ve got left at the end of the day. But so often, people end up in leadership roles without proper support, trying to keep the wheels turning while quietly wondering if they’re doing it right.

I started Own Your Leadership because I know what that feels like. And I know it doesn’t have to be that way.

With the right kind of space and the right kind of questions, people can grow into leaders who are calm, capable, and clear – not perfect, but present and intentional. Leaders who don’t lose themselves in the process.

That’s what this work is about. Helping people lead in ways that feel solid, genuine, and sustainable – so they can bring out the best in themselves and others.
