Our founder’s passion for everything organic started in 2008 with the launch of an e-commerce site selling organic olive oil and organic wine. It was research into the possible causes of Leukaemia which was the initial trigger for our study. In 2002 the Founder’s son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 2 years. It was this terrifying life event that provoked our founder to begin her journey of research into what the cause of this terrible disease could be.
The Rise of Serious Health Conditions
The research was alarming although no specific cause was discovered it was apparent that living a chemical-based lifestyle is not healthy. The air we breathe, the food we eat, the plastics we consume unknowingly, the radiation we are exposed to, the skincare products and cosmetics we use and even the water we drink all add toxicity to our lives. Add to these everyday items such as cleaning products, air fresheners, clothing, and mobile phones – the list continues.
Since 2002 cancer rates have increased, especially in children and teenagers. Since the early 1990s incidence rates for cancers in children and teenagers have increased by almost a quarter (*24%). Rates in females have increased by *35% and rates in males have increased by *14% (*Cancer Research UK).
Why? Risk factors that are debated include air pollution, pesticides in our food chain, ultra-processed foods, radiation, viruses and genetic syndromes. There is still no definitive cause for cancer.
We also see the increase in other illnesses over the last decade including Cardiovascular, Kidney, COPD (has increased yoy), Arthritis (approx. 40% increase from 2004 to 2020) Asthma, IBS, Hypertension and Diabetes.
We have a list of new illnesses and food allergies are at an all-time high, in the UK an estimated 41 million people have an allergic condition. The *WHO has recently predicted that by 2025 half of the entire EU population will be affected by chronic allergic diseases.
We can only assume that this is linked to the same risk factors and unhealthy lifestyle.

Organic Lifestyle Interest Continues to Grow
In the UK despite the economic turmoil we have suffered, the organic market has seen its’ 12th year of growth. Almost doubling its value from 2011 to 2023.
Although our first attempt at an organic business was not fruitful, e-commerce was in its early days. In 2020 we launched an organic skincare wholesale and retail business which has grown from strength to strength. We have seen massive growth in sales since the COVID pandemic and more recently since the launches of Apps such as Yuka.

Yuka which launched in France in 2017 now exists in 12 countries and has over 55 million users. Yuka scans food and personal care products including cosmetics to decipher their ingredients and evaluate their impact on your health. This is a great demonstration of how consumers want to know what ingredients are in products and have control over the products that they are buying.
Through our retail outlets, we remain connected to our customers and have a real understanding of our market. Our founder who has a career in beauty spanning almost 30 years understands the amount of toxic chemicals and endocrine disrupters in the beauty and cosmetics products we are using daily and the increasing level of greenwashing that is prevalent in the cosmetics industry. It has become very difficult for a consumer to know which products are clean and safe, as with the growth in the organic market comes the increase in brands wanting to cash in on clean products, choosing certified organic is the perfect safe solution.
