Do you want to learn active relaxation to better handle stressful situations? Do want to feel grounded and confident in your own body and mind?
Movingness is a new method that does all of that – and more! It can help you move the way you love and love the way you move. It strengthens your body-mind connection. And it improves your self-confidence.
Movingness also helps you to become mindful of yourself and your body. When you start to observe how you move, you can refine it. And greatly improve the way you’re moving through life. Going down to the floor, coming up again, walking, running – whatever your age, you can improve all of these fundamental movement skills!
This is how it works:
Movingness is made up of six unique movement series. The first series, the Earth Series, creates a deep connection with the body. It starts slowly with small gentle movements. This activates the body’s “love system” – your fascia, vagal nerves, and tactile C-fibres. When you connect with and start to feel your body, it often reacts. And showers you with feel-good hormones that creates a wonderful feeling of being safe and being held,
The relaxation that we create in the Earth Series, is the basis for the whole program. In the second series, the Gecko Series, we’re adding rhythm. Rhythm keeps movements together! Here, we’re also activating the spine. And learning to engage and relax our myofascial lines, the power lines that go through the whole body.
In the following modules, the Dolphin and Tiger series, we’re adding more challenges – coordination and strength training – without losing the underlying relaxation. In the Anatomy series, we’re bringing our new skills up on two feet. And in the concluding Wild Goose series, we’re looking for different expressions: dance, emotions, and meditation.
A unique feature of Movingness is that you don’t have to imitate the teacher. Instead, you’re encouraged to explore and find your own natural way of moving. The movements are simultaneously calming and stimulating for the nervous system. They often lead to a state of relaxation in the body and clarity in the mind.
The softness and gradual learning curve make Movingness very flexible. It can be adapted to people of all ages in a wide variety of physical conditions. The new method has attracted yoga teachers, dancers, trauma therapists, and practitioners from all walks of life from all over the world.
ABOUT PETER APPEL
Movingness simply means “the power of movement”. The method was founded in 2019 by Peter Appel, an internationally acclaimed somatic teacher from Finland. After many years of training in different movement methods, his body started to spontaneously move in certain patterns. He systematized the movements and named them Movingness.
NOT SO FUN FACTS
Study after study has found links between poor health and a sedentary lifestyle. Despite this, we’re moving less and less. Already before the pandemic, the WHO warned that a quarter of the world’s population is not active enough to stay physically and mentally healthy. And a recent study projected that half of the world’s population will be obese by 2035.
