Mainyard Studios

The journey of entrepreneurship can be lonely and isolating. Combatting this is one of the main drivers of the Mainyard Studios team. They strive to ensure that the residents of all the Mainyard Studios spaces have a place to focus when they want it and can get support when they need it.

Co-founders Remi Landaz and Victoria Bravery understand the struggles of starting and growing a business because they have lived it multiple times over. They believe that in the right environment, every business has the ability to scale and every business owner has the ability to thrive.

Already running a London based music event with business partner Bruno Cabral, as well as a screen printing business from their Hackney Wick live/work warehouse space, in 2012 they took over a 3 storey, 14000 square foot derelict factory near their home and got to work creating Number 90 Bar & Kitchen on the ground floor of the building and Mainyard Studios music studios, creative offices and coworking space on the upper floors.

The building was in a terrible state of disrepair and with little money for the refurbishments, the task at hand seemed impossible. They negotiated a deal with the landlord but funds were still tight. They had to get resourceful in order to complete this project , turning to skip diving, freebies from the web and up-cycling anything found on the street. Any deliveries trucks with pallets visiting nearby factories were flagged down and begged to donate the wood. Some of which became the meeting rooms in the first coworking space.

They also made use of the Forest Recycling project for recycled paint (which was often very lumpy!). To make all of this a reality, Tori and Remi worked 15 hour days doing the refurbishment, with friends dropping in to help when they could and to make ends meet Tori worked another job in the evenings and Remi continued with event promotion.

They threw raves in the warehouse to raise money to keep the building work going and when the building’s plumbing and heating had been sorted, Victoria and Remi moved into the building in order to save money on rent.
Fun fact: When the coworking space in this first building was ready and potential members came to view, occasionally someone would express a vague memory of being drunk in the same room or throwing up near the fire escape, slowly realising that they had attended one of the raves we organised during the refurbishments.

Today, and with the help of an amazing, dedicated team and incredible tribe of creative entrepreneurs referred to as ‘Mainyarders’ , Mainyard Studios is a growing workspace provider that is home to 400+ businesses and creative professionals.
They come from multiple industries and are housed in the various creative studios, private offices, soundproof studios and coworking spaces across the London locations.

It is hard to run a business, let alone grow one profitably. That’s why the team at Mainyard Studios wake up every morning to help business owners become better entrepreneurs. They help them save money, focus their time and connect daily with other business owners in order help them to grow their companies or create a better work-life balance.

As well as providing distraction-free, professional spaces that help business owners feel like the professionals that they are, there are a number of activities to help promote bonding amongst the Mainyarders of the spaces and provide opportunities for authentic and meaningful interactions and networking on a personal and professional level. Including a simple weekly lunch provided by Mainyard Studios in many of the workspaces large kitchens and eaten family style around big tables.
