Lightworker Candles

The candles I started with weren’t the conventional scented candles but more of a candle holder that could be personalised for any occasion. I looked around at the personalised candles on offer and realised that people would be reluctant to use them as a candle so they just sat there gathering dust. I did much research and found a way of making a candle holder from wax (also know as candle lanterns or hurricane candles) and quickly immersed myself in learning how to make them and even to this day I’m still working on perfecting the process.
In 2012 myself and my partner got the opportunity to open a small craft shop situated in a craft courtyard in a beautiful setting in County Wexford, Ireland. I was only starting out with my candles and knew it would take time for people to see them and for repeat business to grow and the fact that we were catering to a day tripper we would need other products to sell if we wanted to make a living out of the shop. With very little capital I selected products that I would love to buy and also that complimented the candles and we officially opened Lightworker Candles in April 2013. In 2018 we re-named the shop Lightworker Candles and Crystals because we knew if was the perfect combination for us.
We spent almost 8 wonderful years there and our shop developed over the years with customers asking for products we didn’t have and trips to many trade fairs. In September 2020 the craft courtyard closed for 6 months because of Covid and we relocated the shop beside our home (also in Wexford). Our shop has a great range of handcrafted products from around the world and our crystal and candle range is ever expanding. The space for our shop was there before we ever opened our shop in the craft courtyard but we needed experience in retail and were able to make mistakes on a small scale. The website I have today is the third try and has been bringing in business since 2017. I love the challenges and rewards a business can bring but my truly happy place is in my workshop. I look forward to working with diib to help as many people as possible to find us online so we can keep growing and prospering.
