Lets Talk About It

About me – Bereavement Counsellor (incl Grief Counselling and Pet Bereavement)
Sally Hunt – Let’s Talk About It.

I have been providing Bereavement Counselling (often called Grief Counselling) for more than 12 years.
Why am I focussed just on Bereavement and Grief? Because it is a complicated subject requiring much knowledge and continual study. For this I am unlike most other counsellors who are prepared to help you with anything. But if you think about it, how can they give you in-depth experience of so many subjects. I have seen some list 30 different subjects on their website that they say they know about. Really? I specialise in just one, and a few more where they arise in pursuit of bereavement.
I offer a complimentary session so that we can understand each other and feel that we can work together. This is important for both of us, for you to understand me and the way I work. For me to understand you and the issues you have. Following this we will set up regular sessions, usually once a week for the first few weeks. Once you start improve, we will make the sessions every 2 or 3 weeks until you feel ok.
Unlike other counsellors I do not insist on you committing to 6 sessions. You can have as few or as many as you wish. My aim is to get you to a place where you are happy – or at least contented. I do not keep going, I understand this is your money.
Counselling sessions are normally scheduled to be 50 minutes (the 50 minute hour), but our sessions usually end-up being close to an hour. Our sessions are private, one-to-one. Everything you say to me is confidential. Our sessions can be in person at my counselling rooms or by video (Zoom or Google Meet).
I will expect you to work on some of the things we discuss. I will recommend books that you could read. I will ask you to reflect on our discussions.
I will guide you through the 5 stages of grief. These being: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. You may not go through each stage. You may not go through the stages in sequential order. The way I see grief is that is a large jumble of emotions, you are trying to come to terms with the loss while your mind is a muddle. I will help you understand those emotions and how they fit together.
There are five main types of grief Normal, Complicated, Anticipatory, Disenfranchised and Traumatic. There are many more too. But it is very likely that you have some other impact on your grief such as depression, low self-esteem or anxiety.
I am used to working with multiple issues. Before I focussed on one type of counselling, I specialised in Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem and Stress – so I am well versed in these subjects and can help you.
My clients are young and old, from many different religions and backgrounds. I am quite well known in my field and have clients across the UK, in Mainland Europe and as far afield as Thailand and Australia.
Before founding Let’s Talk About It, I had worked in the software industry from administration to HR Director. I am used to the stresses and strains of industry and understand the impact it has on people.
I am a member of the BACP (MBACP), I keep up to date with regular training. Over the past 15 years I have read many books on Bereavement. I have regular supervision, as required by the BACP. This is where I talk to my supervisor about my clients and the approaches I am taking. This is all anonymous – I would never mention your name to the supervisor. The purpose of supervision is to discuss particular issues and ensure I am covering all angles.
If you have any questions about me or my work, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached through my website at https://letstalkaboutit.co.uk or by email to sally@letstalkaboutit.co.uk.
