Hi I'm Sam, I began taking photographs as a boy, probably just 9 or 10 years old.
Main Services:
Fine Art Photography , Headshots, Wedding Photography, Memorial Photography , Studio Photography , Family Photography , Newborn Photography , Children's Photography , Product Photography , Food Photography
My Father was a teacher at a local college and taught graphic design – more importantly, how to think out of the box – and would task me with little briefs as a child with his camera. I’m sure just to get me from under his feet! The result was a lifelong passion for creating compositions in the viewfinder.
We are a very creative lot, we have three photographers in our family and several artists not least my Mum who creates stunning paintings and composits. And lastly my Great Grandfather (3x removed) Samuel Laycock, my namesake, the famous Lancashire Poet! So you see, I do have rather alot to live up to!
I began getting serious with my work when my daughters Charley and Evie were born 8 years ago now and the focus on child portraiture was my main goal. I studied under Paulina Duczman and learnt how to create heirloom portraiture and that remains one of my real passions. Creating a portrait of a child and drawing real emotion is my love!
