Intelligent Salon Software Ltd. is the independently owned British company behind SalonIQ, cloud salon software built to make running a salon easier, help owners build more profitable businesses and give them more freedom. The platform brings appointment booking, client management, automated marketing, payments, stock control and team performance together in one place, and serves more than 2,500 salons and over 180 salon groups, from single independents to multi-location brands.

The business grew out of direct experience of salon ownership. Founders Andy Atherton and David Levine began developing salon software in 1993 and ran their own salon group before founding Intelligent Salon Software in 2012 and launching SalonIQ in 2013. CEO Sam Kendall is a hairdresser by trade who spent years managing HR and payroll within a salon group, and around 80% of the company’s roughly 30 team members come from salon backgrounds.

That experience shows in the tools. SalonIQ offers round-the-clock online booking with deposits and reminders, automated email and SMS campaigns to bring clients back, a salon-branded app for bookings, loyalty, gift cards and retail, integrated payments through IQ Pay with card tipping via IQ Tips, and team dashboards with targets and commission reporting. Salon groups get cross-location dashboards, shared client records and stock visibility, while AI Insights turns data on rebooking, retention, retail and revenue into clear recommendations, and an AI receptionist helps handle missed calls and enquiries.
