Why are we so effective in therapy?
At our therapy practice, we prioritise fast and effective healing for individuals through the utilisation of the latest trauma techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting, both approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO). By employing these cutting-edge methods, you can experience notable results in therapy without the need to invest significant amounts of money and time in traditional talk therapy, which may extend over years and still prove to be ineffective. We extend our therapeutic services to adolescents, adults, and couples, catering to a diverse range of clients. Our success lies in our comprehensive approach of examining various neuroscience and neurobiology therapeutic techniques and extracting the most effective methods tailored to each client’s individual needs. We understand that a personalised approach yields better results than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Tracey possesses the unique ability to engage with and assist clients who may initially exhibit disinterest, resistance, or lack of motivation, empowering them to develop inner resources and resilience to tackle any issue they may face. Her expertise lies in skilfully identifying the root causes of various problems.
Therapy for families, partners, and couples:
Tracey specialises in helping couples restore their relationships by addressing triggers and processes that impact the dynamics. She equips couples with the necessary tools to avoid future conflicts. Additionally, Tracey has successfully assisted partners and directors within FTSE companies who have encountered difficulties in their working relationship.
Furthermore, Tracey specialises in restoring harmony within broken families by thoroughly examining the dynamics of the entire family system. She provides each member with the appropriate tools and techniques to rebuild relationships. Tracey also delves into legacy family systems to understand how past behaviours and beliefs have been passed down through generations.
Specialist therapeutic skills:
We are experts in addressing various conditions such as stuttering, phobias, anxiety, depression, and addictions. Our practice focuses on identifying the root cause of these issues and often provides permanent solutions. We have successfully helped clients with chronic pain conditions, even when other medical approaches have been exhausted. Let’s rewrite the passage:
There was a client named Tom, who had an intense fear of ropes. Despite his strong desire to experience a boat ride, his phobia prevented him from stepping on board. Through the process at Tracey Brittain Therapy, specifically Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a childhood trauma related to a snake was quickly identified as the root cause. EMDR effectively reduced the emotional impact of the trauma, allowing Tom to overcome his fear. As a result, he now proudly displays decorative ropes on the deck of his home.
Expert in therapy for children:
Tracey has demonstrated great proficiency in addressing issues affecting children, including self-harming behaviours, school refusal, and behaviours leading to expulsion from schools. She can write reports and collaborating with agencies such as CAHMS/CYPMHS for meetings centered around the child’s well-being. Tracey provided invaluable assistance to a troubled child we shall call Lucy, who was on the brink of expulsion from school, battling suicidal thoughts, and resistant to engaging in therapy. Lucy had distanced herself from her family and friends, and previous attempts at therapy had left her unwilling to continue after just one session. Additionally, she had become entangled with a problematic boy involved in local drug and theft activities. During their initial session, Tracey introduced Rocket, the practise therapy dog, which immediately captured Lucy’s interest. By the end of the session, Lucy expressed a strong desire to see Rocket again.
With Lucy’s consent, Tracey collaborated with the school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), providing guidance on establishing appropriate boundaries and effective communication strategies. Astonishingly, within a mere two weeks, remarkable transformations took place. Lucy’s expulsion from school was halted, and her self-esteem soared following Brainspotting therapy. It was discovered that an incident from her infancy, which couldn’t be expressed in words due to her being preverbal, had caused trauma during a car accident.
As a result of the therapy, Lucy severed ties with the troublesome boy and reintegrated into her social circle, resuming her connections with friends. She now leads a life of her choosing, free from self-harm, destructive behaviours, and is able to form meaningful connections. Remarkably, she eventually pursued a career as a radio DJ and invited Tracey as a guest on her show, where they discussed the transformative effects of Brainspotting and EMDR therapy.
Resources for effective therapy:
Our practice is proud to have two therapy cats, Asoka and Woody, as well as a therapy dog named Rocket. They have proven to be highly effective in aiding individuals who have experienced trauma or abuse.
