GW Osteopathy

GW Osteopathy offer osteopathic treatment, sports massage, acupuncture and dry needling, cranial osteopathy and more. We’ve been helping people manage their pain for years from our Guildford-based clinic and have recently added a second clinic to provide a greater number of appointments. Both clinics offer easy parking and accessibility.

Our therapists

GW Osteopathy was founded by Gemma Ware who graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2005 and has since built a team of hand picked specialists to complement her skill set and grow GW Osteopathy to the successful clinic it is today.

All of our therapists are highly qualified with degree level qualifications in either osteopathy, sports therapy or both. Their advanced knowledge of the human body means that they can help you identify the cause of pain and adopt the correct rehabilitation plan.

We have therapists who specialise in osteopathy for children, cranial osteopathy (applying gentle pressure to the head or lower back, and suitable for everyone from babies to the elderly), laryngeal manipulation (treating muscular disfunctions of the voice) and pre- and post- operative problems.

What is osteopathy and what can it be used for?

Many people are unsure what osteopathy is and how it differs from physiotherapy or chiropractics: the answer is that osteopathy is aimed at treating the whole body and will take everything into account rather than just one painful area. This approach improves overall flexibility and posture, improving overall health at the same time as reducing pain.

What we treat:
• Back pain
• Sciatica
• Muscle spasm
• Lumbago
• Neck pain
• Neuralgia
• Fibromyalgia
• Shoulder strain
• Frozen shoulder
• Tendonitis
• Rotator cuff
• Elbow pain
• Tennis elbow
• Hip pain
• Osteoarthritis
• Hand and wrist injuries
• Knee pain
• Ankle and foot sprains
• Sports and dance injuries
• Headaches
• Posture and flexibility issues
• Aches and pains related to pregnancy
• Baby problems: Sleep disturbances, crying and irritability

Sports Massage

In addition to osteopathy, our therapists offer sports massage. With the additional qualifications held by our team, potential issues other than the original cause of pain can be picked up and treated. Whether you’re an amateur or professional sports person, sports massage therapy can help new or recurring injuries and get you to full fitness.

Recently we have started offering sports massage at home as well as in our clinics in order to make our services as easy as possible for all to access. Whether you’re new to exercise or preparing to run your 5th marathon, anyone can benefit from sports massage. Some think it is the same as a deep tissue massage and, whilst there are many similarities, the key difference is that a sports massage takes into account the activities that you take part in.

Treatments are suitable for complaints including:
Overuse injuries and stress fractures
Muscle tears, tendon and ligament sprains
Knee, ankle and foot injuries
Shoulder injuries, tennis/golfer elbow, hand and wrist pain

Our clinics

We have 2 Guildford clinics: one in Wharf Road in the centre of Guildford, and the other in QEP in Stoughton. Both offer a variety of appointment times and are open Monday – Saturday 8am – 7pm. Appointments are also available every other Sunday. In addition to these 2 clinics, we now offer home visits for sports massage: new for 2021.
