Gold Line Leatherworks

Gold Line Leatherworks as it exists today, began as a hobby when I first got into leatherworking several years ago. I started with almost nothing, but as my skills grew, so did my desire to share my work. It’s a one-man operation that started and is still in a garage. The goal of my business is to provide high-quality, affordable leather goods, supplies, and services for people who want quality without snobbery. Our belief is that leather can and should last lifetimes, and I take great pride in crafting items that will live far longer than I will. I also wanted to provide a smaller, more local alternative to large chain stores such as Tandy, with prices that would make it easier for beginners and professionals alike to find great supplies at prices that won’t break the bank. After all, if I can do that, then their success becomes my success too.

Gold Line Leatherworks takes its name from my career at the time I started it. As a 911 dispatcher, I and my peers are represented by the “Thin Gold Line” much the same as police are represented by the blue line. I loved that job and found great reward and fulfillment in getting to help so many people. In addition, gold has historically been a metal prized for its beauty and luster, as well as its use in items that are passed down through generations. It is my hope that others will find that same beauty and quality in everything that carries the Gold Line Leatherworks stamp.

We strive for quality, honesty, and service. I believe that these three things comprise the backbone of any successful business or organization. These are all values that I have learned to appreciate and demonstrate over the years, during my military service, my time spent in public service, and elsewhere. Gold Line Leatherworks is about giving people what they want and making a difference in responsible ways. As such, I’m proud to stand behind organizations and causes that support people and push for progress. I founded Gold Line Leatherworks not to enrich myself, but to give my craft a goal and focus. I believe that businesses at their core exist to serve people, in whatever way they choose to do so.

Honestly, I started with no intention to build a brand or a business. I was looking for something to do in my free time where I could work with my hands. At the beginning I had no inspiration save for a few videos on the internet and an appreciation for well-made products. As I started making more and more, I realized I could probably sell some of it just to keep my hobby self-supporting. After a while, the benefits of forming a company outweighed the expense, and I decided to formally open Gold Line Leatherworks to the world.

We primarily focus on custom orders, but do make a number of other products and services alongside, such as leather cleaning, repair, and restoration.
