Main Services
Freedom Maids began as a residential maid service 13 years ago, when the founder, Maury Hammond, decided to leave a successful marketing career and become self-employed. As the maid service grew, Maury had an epiphany one day while visiting a prospective client ostensibly to provide a quote for bi-weekly maid service. The homeowner turned out to be an elderly, recent widow who was struggling with a foot that needed surgery and a house filled to the brim with boxes and all manner of items the husband had collected over the almost 60 years of their marriage. It was a scene straight out of the "Hoarders" TV show. The house was also overrun with rodents and had not been thoroughly cleaned in years. Maury empathized with the client, hired some friends to help, and dove into the job to clear the house and make it comfortable and clean. After a couple of weeks and 99 contractor-sized bags later, the house was clean inside and out, and the client was overjoyed with the result. Maury felt such a sense of reward and accomplishment that he committed to pivoting his company's mission and began focusing on this part of the market exclusively. Fast forward to today, and Freedom Maids has helped literally hundreds of individuals and families reclaim their homes from over-accumulation and clutter in order to live happier and healthier lives. One especially rewarding result is enabling individuals to reconnect with family members who have become distant due to the state of the living spaces. Seeing the joy in a grandmother's eyes when she realizes that her grandchildren will be able to start visiting her again is simply incredible. Due to the growth of demand for a variety of services that naturally stem from the many cleanup projects we have completed over the years, Maury established Hammond Remodeling & Construction as a sister company to Freedom Maids. Together, they form an all-in-one, best-in-class solution for residential and commercial restoration, renovation, and remodeling services. One area we are excited about is our certification two years ago in the National Association of Home Builder's designation as an Aging in Place design and build service provider. Essentially, we assess a home's level of access for a resident who may have compromised mobility and install a range of solutions such as grab bars, expanded doorways and hallways, bathing and showering modifications, all to help them live in their homes longer and with higher quality of life. Ultimately, our mission is simply to improve the quality of life for our clients. Whether it's an individual dealing with over-accumulation and looking for help, a senior couple looking to stay in their homes longer before going to assisted living, a luxury remodel in a high-end residential neighborhood, a commercial space in need of a refresh, or a complete renovation of an apartment building, we are here to make people's lives easier, healthier, and happier.
