Extension Architecture is a London-based architecture practice focused on helping homeowners improve, extend, and rework their homes in a way that feels practical, well designed, and genuinely liveable. Most people come to us because they want more space, better light, and a layout that works for modern life—but they also want the process to feel clear and manageable. We’re set up to guide clients from the first conversation through to a well-resolved design, with drawings and information that support planning, technical coordination, and a smooth build on site. We work on a wide range of residential projects, from single storey and double storey extensions to wrap-around extensions, loft conversions, internal reconfigurations, and flat conversions. Every home is different, so we start by understanding what you want to achieve and what the property can realistically support. That means looking at the existing layout, the site constraints, neighbouring context, and the planning position—whether that’s permitted development, prior approval, or a full planning application. Our goal is to create designs that feel like a natural part of the home, not an awkward add-on, and to make sure the proposal is buildable and defensible from a technical and planning point of view. A big part of what sets us apart is how structured we make the journey. Our service covers early feasibility and design development, planning drawings and documents, and technical drawing packages that help move a project toward construction. We coordinate with the wider team when needed—such as structural engineers and other consultants—and we keep an eye on details that can make a big difference later, like ceiling heights, glazing positions, drainage constraints, and how new spaces meet existing levels.
