Vision without sight

The reason we founded the company is that one of our founders lost her sight in a freak accident when a rock came through the windscreen of her car and severed her optical nerves. I had written a book and had it published and we realised that she could no longer read the book so we set about producing an audiobook.

On this journey one of the things, we found was that utilising a single voice artist can often leave the story telling bland and unfeeling. When you are blind it is difficult, when you are listening to a single voice, to create an image of the people in your head because you have to accept the single voice of the narrator. We wanted to create stories that she could engage with and so Behear was born.

I had been active in the drama community for many years so set about creating a story with multiple voices. We built a fully professional recording studio and started the journey.

Our aim is to make sure everyone has access to amazing stories and can enjoy them to the fullest possible.

We now have a full roster of Voice artists some 300 all in all and we have had many famous faces through the door to help record these incredible stories. From singers who have had number one singles to actors from the likes of The Game of Thrones.

We have been mentioned on TV and radio in and around our native Yorkshire.
Our offerings for authors are varied and we are more than happy to provide our services at different levels.

At Behear we don’t just do audiobooks we do Dramatised Audio Series. Our audiobooks create something immersive and magical.

We understand the importance of being in control of your hard work and maximising the revenue from your books.
Even if you have an Audiobook already, we can breathe new life into it, or get it on our platform for our listeners to enjoy.

Author Packages

The Whole Hog
Submit your book and dependent on the length, complexity, and the needs for the recording of the episodes we will give you a price for the complete production of the book and series. You will retain complete control of your audio files and can distribute them how you please.
If you wish to promote and sell your series on our platform, we will give you 80% of all revenue from any sale on the platform.

The Inbetweeny
Submit your book and enter a revenue-sharing option. We will still produce your series and give all our production input.
We will make your series available on our platform and help you promote your series. The cost of the production of your series will be reduced by 40% and your series will remain available on our platform for sale for 12 months. We will share the revenue of the sales with you on a 50/50 basis.
You may after 1 year continue to sell your series on the platform or we will return the audio files to you.

The stretch
Submit your book and we will produce the audio series for you at a reduction of 60% of the cost.
Your book will remain on sale on our platform for a 24-month period and we will share the revenue of any sales with you at a 75/25 per cent split, where you retain 25% of all sales.

If you already have an audiobook but want to breathe new life into it we have a few ways we can help.

Just audio
If you have an audiobook and would like to get it on our platform. We would be happy to take it and let our listeners know. We would not promote it and any sales would be an 80/20 split. Where you retain 80% of sales less the cost of any merchant system charges. We do not want any rights and you are free to place your audiobook wherever you like. This is just another channel for you.
We can offer marketing services for your audiobook to our audience if you require them.

Hybrid
We will take your brilliant audiobook and breathe new life into it by adding music and sound effects and slicing releases in a series on our platform. We will use your audio and enhance it.
The charge for this is a one-off £300.
Then the new audio is yours to do what you want. If you want to add it to our platform, we will give you an 80/20 split. Where you retain 80% of sales less the cost of any merchant system charges.
We do not want any rights and you are free to place your audiobook wherever you like.
We can offer marketing services for your audiobook to our audience if you require.

The Full Hybrid
We will take your audiobook and keep your narrator. We will add a new voice for each character, and we will add music and sound effects. We will then release your new Dramatised audiobook in episodes on our platform.
The charge for this regardless of your book size is £900.00.
Your series must stay on our platform for 12 months after which you are free to put it wherever you want.
We will give you an 80/20 split. Where you retain 80% of sales less the cost of any merchant system charges.
We also offer marketing services for your audiobook to our audience if you require.
