My name is Arkadiusz Pecyna. I started www.prosty-angielski.pl in 2009 when the idea arose to share the success of how knowing a second language, especially English, can help one in everyday life, work and leisure. The idea is to simplify language acquisition (not studying, learning) and not to make it hard. Starting with ABCs and simple word reading to basic tense construction formation.
It is challenging to start something entirely from scratch. It’s worth it to have someone give you a hint and tips on how to get started and stay on the right course. I want to share with you what I have learned along the way. I believe it will save you a lot of time, and you will master English to a sufficient degree even faster. You need to know that this can happen quickly and without getting too deep into grammar.
Easy ways to read, quickly explained basic tenses, and decipher (meaning and correct pronunciation) words you see for the first time!
Did they give you the idea that grammar is the most important thing because they made tests on it in school, put a lot of emphasis on it, and then graded it accordingly? And this is how the school is functioning. Too many people and too little time to learn the language, and lots of missing knowledge and gaps are created by rushing with the program.
Fortunately for us, grammar issues are even a tertiary topic. It’s about grasping the language, to begin with, the way children do. No one teaches them grammar, although they do very well with their native language—the approach I take in creating my blog and other materials that deal with English on my blog.
I never thought my passion would become learning about languages and personal development. During my school days, all subjects sometimes went smoothly. With some easier, with some more challenging. It worked out that I intended to devote myself to exploring English at one stage during my school days. Despite my love for English, I eventually became a polytechnic student and, consequently, an engineer. I did not abandon English at that time. I got to know the language well enough that using it comes naturally to me in the company where I currently work. I give presentations at conferences in English, conduct teleconferences and interviews with the company’s cooperators, and hold conversations in this language if necessary. I am a practitioner, and I use English daily, in my full-time job, and privately when watching movies, reading books, or other interesting Internet-related things. You, too, can use it as needed! They missed the truth if they told you that you could learn English in 14 days. Of course, it won’t happen overnight, and it won’t happen in a certain amount of time (such as 14 days). It will happen more day by day. I took advantage of the opportunities and chances I was getting and, brick by brick, built up this skill, which I thoroughly described in the book. Do I have any unique language skills? I assure you you also have similar ones. Together we speak at least one language, which doesn’t cause us many problems, and it is one of the more difficult languages for non-Slavs.
I will tell you how to balance it all. It’s like with my book. If someone had ever told me that I would write a book, I would have thought they were making fun of me. Of course, due to my poor understanding of it and lack of basic information. This is also an example of my lack of self-confidence. Not noticing progress and appreciating it can be a blocking point in achieving our goals. These simplest things are what the first chapters are about, and I try to present English from the easiest side. Don’t expect yourself to start speaking English in 14 days, although history knows cases of mastering a new language quite quickly. All you need is information and some time. What we tell ourselves at the beginning of the book will be very simple, but take it seriously. Try to learn regularly this basic information, which is the most important here. By this, I mean, among other things, reading and pronouncing English sounds correct. The easiest way to do this is through the alphabet, especially in a non-phonetic language like English (you spell cow and read ox -> meaning: you write differently and read differently). Once you have these basic clues on how to do this, you will build a base of information about English. Gradually, step by step, moving towards the final of the book, you will make this knowledge base. It’s a goal we talk about extensively on its pages. Was it easy to write the book? No! It was quite a difficult task for me, primarily because full-time work and other regular duties come on top of it. But I managed it!
Dreams do come true, but you have to help them a little. As you will read in my blog, you will know how to accomplish this. I cordially invite you to a proactive lecture.
