Ardnamurchan Crafts

Our scents are unique, not off the shelf blends like many other makers, created as reminders of our rambles and adventures in the Scottish Highlands.

They are made using high quality fragrances and essential oils in small batches by the shore of Loch Sunart on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Our tin lids are hand embossed with our logo inspired by the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse with a 100 year old fly-press which suggests a more artisan offering when on the shelf alongside any competition.

We use fully sustainable Soy wax, are cruelty free and fully vegan. No plastic is used in their production and the vessel is fully recyclable. After significant trials and research we have found holiday and travelling folk actively seek local artisan products as they pass through on their travels and so the robustness of the metal container over glass is preferred.

Currently we have outlets selling our wares on and around the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, The Isle of Mull and The Isle of Skye.

We have original art work on notecards special commissioned to reflect some of the wonderful places on the penisular.

Our creations are inspired by the beauty of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

We are Nick and Sally and thrive on adventures and travel, especially around th UK. There are some truly stunning places right here, on our doorstep.

How we got here

So our journey took us from Somerset to the length and breadth of the country with all its fascinating sights and smells looking for a new place to set up home.

In a T5 named Vanessa and Bruno, our springer spaniel, we embarked on a grand tour of Scotland and with its clean open feel and amazing dark skies we fell in love!

This should be the end of the story but we traded up to a bigger motorhome and expanded a fur family (enter Louie the cockapoo), packed up all our possessions that could fit in and off we went again.

After another few months of travelling we finally found a place were we felt we could settle down. What sealed the deal was the sense of community. How passionate they were about the wildlife, the nature beauty of the area and fiercely protective of it. But the welcome and support was second to none that they gave freely with generous hearts.

This is Ardnamurchan. Our home, our love, our life.

We wanted to capture moments out here. Preserve them to remember that special time and place. Study’s show that smells serve as a stronger trigger than any other sensory cue for recalling personal memories. What better a way of capturing the moment.

We were determined to find a way of sharing these treasured moments with family and friends through the capturing the scent of the different places. Enter the candle.

When it came to essential oils verses fragrance oils, a lot of research was carried out. We all think that the more natural something is, generally the kinder it is to you. Thats not always the case

When trying to recapture the aromas we found that some of the essential oils were not always the kindest to the environment either because of over harvesting or the way that they were harvested or dangerous to our pets.

So we talked to some of the UK’s top fragrance houses and came up with happy mixture of the two.
