Apothecary & me is a clean, organic skincare brand using age-old remedies but with a 21st century ethos. The products are thoughtfully made by hand in micro batches in the countryside of the Garden of England, essential oils chosen with care for their individual qualities, and combined to create a range of beautiful skincare products that are not only kind to skin but the environment too.
Founder, Anita Robinson, was inspired to create this 100% natural skincare brand to treat her teenage daughter’s skin condition and tackle the multitude of plastic bottles in their bathroom. The result of research, testing (on humans only, of course) and fine-tuning ingredient combinations is the illuminate facial oil which is brimming with healing and soothing plant-based oils such as jojoba and argan. Illuminate will relegate other products to the back of the bathroom cabinet and reduce plastic – it removes eye makeup, it cleanses, and it moisturises. It’s also great for skin breakouts. It might have been created with sensitive skin in mind, but it has evolved into a product suitable for all skin types – everyone of any age, male and female can benefit from nature’s goodness in illuminate, revealing their inner glow.
Nature and the environment are a key part of the Apothecary & me ethos. Imagine, back in the day, beautiful apothecary cupboards filled with curious bottles of natural wonders, foraged in the countryside, and sourced from the sea, with which the apothecary would perform their alchemy.
These ‘natural wonders’ are today’s plant based oils with which Apothecary & me perform their very own brand of magic. Alongside illuminate facial oil are the brand’s bath oils and scrubs; the brand wants to change the way we and the skincare industry think about mood and scents.
“We want everyone to be able to combine their favourite scent and mood oils even if, traditionally, they haven’t been blended together. We want to shake-up the beauty and skincare industry and stop it from pigeon-holing us into ‘citrus & energising’ or ‘woody & balancing’. Everyone is different!” says founder, Anita.
This skincare range has no additives, preservatives or even added water – 100% natural oils which are 97% organic, vegan friendly and cruelty-free and the brand is keen to protect the environment from which it sources its ingredients. The illuminate facial oil and the bath oils are encased in amber glass bottles to protect it from UV light – a gorgeous adornment to any bathroom and the brand doesn’t use any plastic packaging; super soft reusable bamboo pads are available on the website too. Apothecary & me also replenish nature’s store cupboard by planting a tree in a rainforest for every order.
