PM Business Support Services helps growing UK businesses build confident, capable managers who can lead people effectively, reduce employment risk and create businesses that are less dependent on the owner. We work with organisations that have typically grown to between 50 and 200 employees and have reached the stage where people management can no longer rely on one individual making every decision. Our founder, Pam, has over 30 years' experience in HR, employment law and people management. Throughout her career she has worked with business owners and leadership teams across a wide range of industries, helping them navigate complex employee relations issues, improve management capability and build stronger workplace cultures. Rather than simply resolving problems after they arise, Pam is passionate about helping businesses prevent them by developing managers who have the confidence, skills and judgement to deal with people issues early and consistently. One of the biggest challenges facing growing businesses is the rise of the "accidental manager"—employees who are promoted because they excel in their technical role but have never been taught how to manage people. Without practical development, these managers often avoid difficult conversations, fail to address performance issues, apply policies inconsistently and escalate problems back to business owners or HR. This creates unnecessary people risk, consumes leadership time and can lead to costly employment disputes. To address this challenge, PM Business Support Services developed the Trusted Manager Programme™, a unique manager development programme designed specifically for growing UK businesses. Unlike traditional management training, which is often delivered as a one-off course, the Trusted Manager Programme™ combines practical learning, coaching, real employment tribunal case studies, policy implementation, HR software integration and regular accountability. Managers apply what they learn every month, embedding new behaviours into their day-to-day management rather than returning to old habits. Our approach focuses on creating managers who think commercially, handle difficult conversations confidently, coach performance effectively, manage employee issues consistently and create the evidence needed to protect both employees and the business. By developing trusted managers, organisations reduce owner dependency, improve employee engagement, retain good people and create stronger, more resilient management teams. Alongside our flagship manager development programme, we also provide HR consultancy, employment law guidance, people management training, disciplinary and grievance support, performance management advice, HR audits, policy development and strategic HR support. Our advice is always practical, commercially focused and tailored to the needs of each organisation. We believe great businesses are built by great managers—not by owners constantly firefighting people issues. Our mission is to help businesses create management teams they genuinely trust, giving owners the confidence to step back from day-to-day people problems while building workplaces where employees and managers can succeed together.
