Jerry Can Spirits: Where Veterans Craft Premium Rum Jerry Can Spirits is a rum company born out of the British spirit. Our first expression, Expedition Spiced Rum, is a top-notch spiced rum brewed in Wales using only the best ingredients and time-tested techniques. Our Story: Jerry Can Spirits was kick-started back in 2025 by Dan Freeman and Rhys Williams. Both of them had served in the British Army and were looking to put their experiences to good use. They had a simple idea: to create a premium spirit that reflects the values they learned in the military - quality, reliability, and looking after your mates. The name of the company comes from the jerry can - a piece of kit that's got genuine military heritage. Invented in Germany in the 1930s, the jerry can was picked up by the Allied forces during World War II because it was robust, practical, and just plain reliable. That's exactly what we want our rum to be - a drink you can put your faith in. Our logo features a stylised jerry can and our branding all centres around themes of adventure, exploration and getting stuff done. We're not pretending to be something we aren't - we're a pair of veterans who love a good rum and we wanted to create something that really means something. What We Do Our main product is Expedition Spiced Rum, a 40% ABV spiced rum produced in partnership with Spirit of Wales Distillery in Newport. It's made using a combination of Caribbean rum bases, infused with botanicals and spices we've carefully selected to give it a nice balance of warmth and complexity. The flavour profile's got a nice balance of spicy and sweet - you can pick out notes of cinnamon, vanilla and citrus, with a gentle warmth from the ginger and a subtle sweetness that makes it go down a treat. It's great on its own, over ice or in a cocktail - our personal favourite way to have it is with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime in a simple Storm & Spice. Every single bottle is carefully hand-filled and labelled in Wales. We're proud to work with local suppliers as much as possible - from our bottles and closures from Croxsons to our labels and packaging from Label Apeel. Why We Do Things Our Way The spirits industry's a crowded place - there are thousands of gins, vodkas and rums out there all vying for attention, many of them made by big corporations with big marketing budgets. We don't try to compete with that lot. Instead, we focus on doing a few things really, really well: quality products, straightforward marketing and actual community work. We don't pretend to be something we're not. We're a small team of real people who are passionate about making a top-notch rum. Working with a Welsh distillery was important to us - we wanted to support British manufacturing and make sure our product was made with love and care.
