Hi, I’m Dr. Jen Stotlar, the naturopathic doctor and holistic nutritionist behind Nourisherpa, a natural health clinic in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. I created Nourisherpa because I wanted to build the kind of clinic I needed during my own health journey. I wanted one that blends science, intuition, compassion, and a genuinely human connection. A place where people feel seen and supported, not rushed or dismissed. And a place where healing isn’t about fighting the body, but about understanding it. I believe the body wants to heal and has an innate ability to do so. When we remove the obstacles to healing and support the systems that are struggling, it moves toward health. Sometimes that means working on digestion, metabolism, stress physiology, hormones, or adrenal function; sometimes it means addressing sleep, trauma patterns, inflammation, or the nervous system. Most often, it means working on all of these gently, in the right order, and in a way that feels manageable for real life. At Nourisherpa, I help people with chronic digestive issues, autoimmune conditions, hormone and metabolic/weight challenges, anxiety and stress-related symptoms, fatigue, burnout, and nervous-system dysregulation. Many of my patients come in because they’re tired of feeling like “everything is fine on paper” but they don’t feel fine. My job is to connect the dots between symptoms, labs, physiology, lived experience, and emotional landscape. Then create a plan that finally makes sense of their whole picture. One thing that sets Nourisherpa apart is the blend of offerings under one roof. Alongside naturopathic care and functional nutrition therapy, we offer red light therapy, PEMF, infrared sauna, cold plunge, therapeutic acupressure massage, lymphatic work, homeopathy, constitutional hydrotherapy, and NST (Neurostructural Integration Technique). These modalities help regulate the nervous system, calm inflammation, improve circulation, support mitochondrial function, and strengthen the body’s innate healing capacity. They’re especially powerful when layered with the nutrition, lifestyle, and nervous-system work I do with patients. I also work closely with our chiropractor and massage therapist, Dr. Eric Mai. Eric is incredibly skilled with soft tissue work, therapeutic acupressure massage, and structural balancing. Together, we approach the body from both the biochemical and biomechanical sides. Many of our patients benefit from this kind of integrated care - with nutrition and labs on one side, chiropractic and soft tissue work on the other; and restorative therapies woven throughout. It creates a system of support rather than a single intervention, and that’s where transformation really happens. People often ask why I chose the name “Nourisherpa.” To me, it reflects exactly what I do. I don’t “fix” people. I guide them, support them, teach them to understand their inner landscape, and help them build a foundation of health one step at a time. The journey can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been unwell for a long time—but when you have someone walking with you, it becomes possible, hopeful, and empowering. A little about me personally: I’m a naturopathic doctor licensed in Vermont and Wisconsin, and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in Illinois. I’m also a CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist). Before becoming a doctor, I spent years managing my own health struggles, and those experiences shaped how I practice today. I don’t believe in fear-based medicine or fighting the body. I believe in listening, accepting, regulating, and supporting. I believe in addressing the terrain, not chasing diagnoses. And I believe that health is physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual - because all of those layers influence how the body functions. Outside the clinic, I live in a wonderfully busy blended family with five kids, a very loved pit bull named Dodger who occasionally comes to the clinic, and a husband who helps me run the business (and keeps me laughing when I take life too seriously). I love escaping to a quiet cabin in southern Illinois, singing in the car, reading almost anything except politics, and watching medical dramas. My life is full, structured, sometimes chaotic, but deeply intentional—just like the health journeys my patients are on. Nourisherpa has grown almost entirely through word of mouth, referrals from other practitioners, and people who were looking for something more than standard care. Many of my patients tell me: “Finally, someone actually listened.” “Now my symptoms make sense.” “I feel hopeful again.” That’s exactly why I do this. Nourisherpa is not a quick-fix clinic. It’s a partnership, a guided journey, and a safe place to rebuild health from the inside out. I’m grateful every day that people trust me with their stories, their hopes, and their healing. If this resonates with you, then you’ll probably feel at home here too.
