Scott, our founder, saw that gap first-hand and decided to build something different — a merchant that truly understands the trade, delivers honest guidance, and only stocks products worthy of the professionals who rely on them. What truly sets Trade Secrets apart is our commitment to quality, integrity, and education. Every brand we carry has been carefully selected for its performance and reliability — from Tikkurila’s Scandinavian durability and Caparol’s German precision, to Benjamin Moore’s American colour excellence and Johnstone’s trusted trade performance. We don’t just sell them; we know them inside out. Our team are trained in product chemistry, surface preparation, and system specification, so whether you’re tackling a Georgian townhouse in Inverurie or a modern build in Inverness, we can recommend exactly the right system for the job. We’ve also reimagined what a paint store can be. Instead of rows of dusty shelves and closed trade counters, our stores are open, inspiring, and hands-on — blending the practicality of a trade outlet with the creativity of a design studio. Customers can explore real paint samples, colour walls, and product demos in natural light, and talk to staff who actually use and understand the products. Our Aberdeen store has even become a hub for decorators across the North East, hosting regular Trade Nights, manufacturer demos, and training events with partners like Polyvine, Toupret, Tikkurila, and Q-Tech.
