Onward Survey & Land Services is a Texas-based partner for energy infrastructure. Combining seasoned right-of-way know-how, meticulous surveying, and practical, tech-forward execution to help projects move from concept to completion without bottlenecks. We’re headquartered in Fort Worth and led by owner Ted Valdez, who has spent more than two decades in the land business across transmission, midstream pipelines, renewables, and industrial site development. Ted previously built and sold a successful right-of-way firm during the Barnett Shale era, and in 2019 he founded Onward with a simple promise: blend “boots-on-the-ground” reliability with modern tools so owners, developers, and EPCs get faster land access, cleaner data, and fewer surprises. Our project managers and field teams are career land pros who understand how decisions at the kitchen table affect the critical path, how a missing legal description can stall a construction schedule, and how clean survey data reduces rework. We use practical technology—UAS/drone capture, GIS-managed workflows, modern CAD standards, and AI-assisted document handling to take friction out of the process, but we never forget that relationships and details are what keep a job moving. Safety and professionalism are non-negotiable, and our communication style is straightforward: clear updates, real timelines, and no excuses. On any given week you’ll find us supporting utilities and developers with transmission line routing and acquisition, title research and curative, ALTA and boundary surveys, construction staking, and as-built documentation. We also help pipeline and midstream operators with route selection, landowner engagement, permitting, and survey from greenfield segments to tie-ins and expansions. In renewables, we support solar and wind developers with site control, survey, and coordination around interconnects.
