Harvey B. Chess is a seasoned, well-regarded trainer and consultant among nonprofits. He entered the workforce at the inception of the late War on Poverty and concluded as a grant making foundation program officer. His work throughout has focused on the connection between organizational and funding proposal excellence.

After years of designing, conducting and delivering two to five day workshops throughout the country, Harvey has written a book and a companion workbook to deliver his teachings and methodology to a wider audience in the nonprofit and organizational field.

His book Functional and Funded – Securing Your Nonprofit’s Assets From The Inside Out, shows how to build the core funding proposal you will refine to tell your organization’s story. Learn how to present your nonprofit as substantial, enterprising and resilient – a necessity in today’s competition for resources. By flipping typical proposal development on its head and throwing in a healthy dose of common sense, Chess’s signature method will both strengthen your organization internally and convince those with assets to support your efforts.
