","content_main":"<p>Guus was first educated as a physiotherapist. Passionate about his work and trying to help people with discomfort as well as he can, he picked up the study to become an osteopath. This is a five year study. Guus chose to do a successive study to become a childrens osteopath.<br \/>\nSo now since Guus works in healthcare for over 20 years. First as an army medic, then as a physiotherapist and now as a (childrens) osteopath.<br \/>\nGuus treats patients between the ages of a few days into the 90+ years.<br \/>\nBecause osteopathy adapts to what fits a certain age best, it guarantees optimal guidance to recovery and good health.<br \/>\nPeople tend to visit an osteopath when they have sports injuries or just feel discomfort in their body because they sit too much during their dayjob.<br \/>\nIn younger children, people tend to visit an osteopath because they cry a lot or have trouble going to sleep. Also when they have reflux or have a preferred position of the head, which can cause flattening of the skull.<br \/>\nNormally with about three sessions people will experience massive improvement. Sometimes they will need to come back once or twice per year and sometimes only return after several years.<br \/>\nAn osteopath will give advice on lifestyle, like what food to eat and when, how much exercise is necessary and how often. Sometimes supplements are needed to maintain optimal health.<br \/>\nIn the Netherlands osteopaths are not physicians, but started as physiotherapists.
