Imagine brewing coffee at home that is freshly roasted in your city, personalized to your taste preferences, and delivered right to your door. The amazing part: it’s not always the same coffees you’ll be drinking. Roasted Bean Box is the signature of this vision. The company’s proprietary data-driven model allows for coffee discovery based on consumers’ taste preferences. To ensure you enjoy the coffees at their peak flavors, premium arabica beans are roasted in your city by in-house, talented roasters, and delivered directly to you. The result: you only discover coffees that are personalized to your taste and enjoy every sip of that brew.

The company was created by two coffee lovers, Catherine and Rahul, who, like many others, consider coffee gourmet. They noticed that despite coffee preferences being subjective, there was no effective way for people to discover coffees that are truly personalized to their palates. The founders thus set on a mission to develop a data-driven model that would take into consideration customers’ coffee ratings over a period of time and recommend coffees that better match their taste preferences.

How the service works:

A customer’s journey begins online with questions about their preferred coffee quantity, roast preferences, bean preparation and whether they want their deliveries on a Wednesday or a Friday.

From there, the subscribed member receives two different, single origin coffees that are roasted fresh in their city, and with the roast date mentioned on their coffee bags. Once the member has had plenty of time to enjoy and discover the flavors of their coffees, they rate each coffee in their personal RBB dashboard or online account. The rating itself is very simple with members rating each coffee as “perfect”, “great”, good” and “dislike” – that’s all! The company’s data-driven algorithm maps out each member’s personalized coffee profile.

Over the following two deliveries, the member receives different single origin coffees with varying flavor profiles and rates these coffees. Throughout this time, the member also sees their coffee profile evolve in their personal dashboard. As the member’s taste preferences become more apparent, they begin receiving only personalized blends and single origin coffees that match their coffee profile. The personalized coffee discovery generally begins from the third month. After a few months, members may not need to rate their coffees anymore.
