Happiness Idea Malaysia is an online store that sells high quality and customisable products.

How it started

Happy Mike (founder of Happiness Idea Malaysia) was an internet marketer back in 2015. One fine day in 2015, Happy Mike opened his laptop and tried to order a phone case for his new iPhone. He typed in ‘iPhone 6s Plus case’ into the search box on one of the most popular e-commerce marketplace in Malaysia and hundreds of iPhone cases in various design was listed right in front of him. He immediately spotted a design he like. Then he noticed something weird — the exact same product picture of the design he liked appeared multiple times on the same page of the search result. He clicked into each of them and found that all the pictures and description were exactly the same but they were sold by different sellers at wildly different prices. Happy Mike was puzzled but went ahead and ordered it anyway from a seller who listed it at the lowest price.

The case arrived a few days later but it looked nothing like the picture he saw online. Happy Mike wasn’t happy. He wanted to return it for a refund but couldn’t find the seller on the marketplace anymore. He couldn’t even write a bad review since the product is no longer listed there.

Happy Mike has heard this type of stories (about bad experiences of shopping on e-commerce marketplace) before from his friends and family, but this is the first time he experienced it himself. This gave him the idea of creating Happiness Idea — an e-commerce brand that sells only high quality product, show only real authentic product picture, and with a video on every product page to demonstrate how the product really look in real life.
