Hi, I’m Sam, proud mum to Tor and founder of Tor’s Story, an online toy shop that has grown from my passion for wooden toys and their incredible benefits for children. As a mum who follows Montessori principles, I’ve always sought out toys that not only bring joy to my son but also nurture his development. Tor’s Story is my labour of love, and I’m thrilled to introduce our carefully curated collection of toys that inspire creativity, encourage exploration, and support those precious early developmental milestones.

I started this journey by selecting toys I knew would benefit Tor, and little by little, I realised there was an opportunity to share these with other families who value open-ended, imaginative play.

Tor’s Story has another layer of meaning that connects to our family’s roots. My partner, Adrian, and I met at the iconic Glastonbury Festival, and the town of Glastonbury holds a special place in our hearts. In fact, our son Tor is named after the famous Glastonbury Tor, a place known for its history and beauty. It’s a symbol of strength, creativity, and a deep connection to nature—values that we carry forward in our business.

This connection to Glastonbury is more than just symbolic. The festival’s sense of creativity, community, and openness inspired me to start a business where families could connect, discover, and enjoy together. Like the festival, our toys are about bringing people together, celebrating play, and fostering a sense of wonder in the world.

Since starting Tor’s Story, one of my proudest moments has been moving from selling on online marketplaces to launching our very own website. It’s been an exciting journey to see the business evolve, and having our own space online has allowed us to create a more personal and direct connection with our customers. Our website now serves as a hub where families can explore our carefully curated collection and learn more about the importance of developmental play.

While we’re still a small family business, the transition to our own platform feels like a significant step forward—a way to better serve our community and share our passion for toys that make a difference.
