Let’s face it – all cancer treatments – while important, life saving, a miracle of science, etc. – are miserable thanks to the especially nasty side effects. From surgery, to chemotherapy to radiation treatment, there are myriad items that can genuinely help patients endure treatment side effects. The challenge for patients is that they cannot KNOW what they will need until they need it IMMEDIATELY. And to add insult to injury, friends and family all want to DO something, but what they generally DO is bring food (that you cannot stand to smell or want to eat), or kicking cancer tote bags and coffee mugs (ummm… useless but, thanks?!). The Balm Box connects these two audiences – patients in need of functional care items, and friends and family who want to provide help and support.
Prior to launching, we conducted market research with over 500 patients and gift buyers. Did you know that over 70% of adults have purchased a gift for a friend or family with cancer in the past 18 months? 70%!
The Balm Box care packages are carefully curated with premium quality, functional items – like sweat-free ice packs, specialty pillows/cushions, calendula-infused burn balm, and essential oil kits. They are not curative – but they are so very helpful!
The Balm Box has caught the attention of NBC, USA Today, Medium, Cancer Wellness, Yahoo News and Fast Capital 360. Founder, Liz Benditt, was named a #WomanOfAction by the Susan G. Komen Foundation of KSWMO and was the keynote speaker at the Kansas State University and Komen Foundation Pink Power Luncheon.
