The Balkans and Beyond

Our website has been running for around two years and we are continuously adding to it and improving our content. We hope to help others with the info we provide.

We are different to other travel blogs are we focus on the Balkan region. There is not much quality, up-to-date information in English online. So we are trying to fill the gap. Currently, we do not have any advertising on our site as we feel it takes away from the user experience. The Balkans are an incredibly beautiful set of countries, so it would not be right to present an ugly, fussy website.

Within Balkan travel, we also focus on hiking, history and sustainable travel – mostly using public transport and taking part in eco friendly activities.

Our aim is to grow our blog by adding more local information and personal experiences. As our site grows, we will need to consider an income to sustain it. To do this, we are beginning to plan affiliate relationships with travel companies, such as booking.com. We are also working on partnerships with local travel suppliers in the Balkans. Most of this is done through our social media – mainly Instagram.

Of course, income from affiliates depends on site traffic. This is something we are hoping to improve as a priority
