The TAPP Water mission in Malta is to eliminate plastic bottles used for drinking water in Malta. We are part of a global movement that targets removing 10 billion plastic bottles from our environment by 2026.

The way we can do this is by providing affordable, practical and advanced micro filtration systems for the public water supply. This way any householder can enjoy safe, great tasting drinking water at home.

Our range of water filters is sustainable which means our customers can change their water filters regularly without throwing away larges amounts of plastic and generating more waste.

One of our leading products is the TAPP EcoPro Compact water filter that is the smallest water filter in Malta and uses no plastic casing at all to house the water refill.

The TAPP Water advance microfiltration systems uses 5 stages of filtration to filter over 100 contaminants from the public water supply and deliver instant great tasting drinking water at the convenience of just turning on the kitchen tap.

TAPP Water was started originally in Barcelona and now the TAPP Water range of water filters are distributed in over 30 countries including Malta where from the launch in 2020 within 2 years the company has over 2,000 households using TAPP Water products and eliminating the use of plastic bottles for drinking water in their households.

In 2021 TAPP Water won the prestigious Agent of Change category at the Malta Climate Action Awards, the category was for those companies in Malta who are leading consumer change and enabling the adoption of sustainable practices in Maltese households.

In the same year the company was also a finalist in the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority customer service awards in the category of online stores.

TAPP Water in Malta is primarily a direct to consumer brand with an online store and free delivery in Malta and offers a subscription service for all water filter cartridge refills so that each household can receive their annual refill pack without the need for reminders. The company also rewards the sustainable consumer by providing a discount for the annual subscription where only 1 delivery a year is needed.

TAPP Water filters have been tested internationally in accredited laboratories in USA and Europe, and TAPP Water Malta has also had the local filtered water tested for over 100 contaminants and the full laboratory tests are available on the company’s website.

There is a huge issue with plastic bottles in Malta and the level of recycling, although improving is low in comparison to the rest of Europe. As a small island Malta has to create consumer change in order to be able to manage the waste resources that it generates.

In Malta the Beverage Container Recycling Scheme is being launched in 2022 which attempts to foster good recycling behavior by charging a deposit on plastic bottles (in addition to other container types) which is then returned when the bottle is returned to a collecting machine.

This makes plastic bottles even more inconvenient than before and many more households will turn to systems such as TAPP Water filters to avoid this extra tax and hassle.
